Video Productions USA interviewed the cast of Society of Sin, a New Orleans burlesque and variety troupe, as part of our ongoing coverage of the city's performing arts scene. Meet the performers below.


Meet the Cast


We are the Society of Sin Burlesque and Variety, I am Xena Zeitgeist, Ariana Amour, Expecta Patrone, Lune Noir.

The Society of Sin is a Burlesque and variety troop, we incorporate drag, circus, arts, singing, and dance into the act of Burlesque.

Burlesque offers a lot of freedom that I really enjoy. I feel that you can everything with the art of Burlesque and it means a lot to many people.

Something that is very important for me is to have a diverse cast, and LGBT inclusive shows.

You technically don’t need to have any training. It helps if you’ve done theater if you dance, or the minimum to make costumes or makeup training, o something that makes you feel comfortable on stage and an idea of the aesthetic and how to move your body in space like that.

We’ve done so many themes in our burlesque shows. Star Wars, Harry Potter and Batman are the ones we do every year, like Tim Burton. Horror movies.

New Orleans has an excellent burlesque scene. New Orleans has shown almost every night in the burlesque, drag, and circus scene.

I believe New Orleans is special in its own way; it’s different than many places with burlesque scenes in the U.S. and it’s one of the few cities where you can do it as many times as you want and that interests me.
