We found the group of dancers one rainy Saturday, they were inside the Lafitte’s Blacksmith Shop on Bourbon Street.
There, we spoke with Nicole Goldin, who told us about the organization behind the Flash Mob.
Dile Que NOLA is a Louisiana non-profit corporation and is a community organization dedicated to the dissemination and preservation of Cuban culture in New Orleans.
Its mission is to use dance,
art, workshops, and educational activities to increase awareness of the Cultural influence in New Orleans while fomenting unity and harmony within our community through the use of alternative methods of expression.
It was created by a group of women that wanted to dance Casino, a traditional street dance in Cuba. We specifically dance Rueda de Casino and the goal is to have fun while we dance.
They decided to dance in JacksonSquare because it is an important representation of our city.
The purpose of us dancing in front of the city is to raise awareness of the Cuban culture that we try to proliferate in New Orleans and a lot of people like entertainment.
Our city is alive, our city is fun and dance. There are a lot of tourists and locals that pass by and see our flash mob and we always get more members when we have a flash mob.

RUEDA DE CASINO EN JACKSON SQUARE
Encontramos al grupo de bailarines un sábado lluvioso en el Lafitte’s Blacksmith Shop en la calle Bourbon.
Ahí hablamos con Nicole Goldin quien nos habló sobre la organización detrás del Flash Mob.
Dile Que NOLA es una corporación sin fines de lucro, y es una organización comunitaria dedicada a la diseminación y preservación de la cultura Cubana en Nueva Orleans.
Su misión es el uso del baile, arte, talleres y actividades educativas para aumentar la conciencia de la influencia cultural en Nueva Orleans, mientras se fomenta la unidad y armonía en la comunidad por medio del uso de métodos de expresión alternativos.
Fue creado por un grupo de mujeres que querían bailar Casino, un baile tradicional en Cuba. Específicamente, nosotros bailamos Rueda de Casino y la meta es divertirnos mientras lo hacemos.
Decidieron bailar en JacksonSquare ya que es una representación importante denuestra ciudad.
El propósito de bailar frente
a la ciudad es para aumentar la conciencia sobre la cultura de Cuba que tratamos de proliferar en Nueva Orleans, y a muchas personas les gusta el entretenimiento.
Nuestra ciudad esta viva, nuestra ciudad es diversión y baile. Hay muchos turistas y locales quepasan miran nuestra actividadcomo el Flash Mob, y siempre se nos unen más miembros.
